The Foo Fighters are rolling out their summer 2008 tour dates which include a performance at the Izod Center.  The reviews of the American tour have been glowing; the New York Post called the Foos "one of the biggest and best bands in rock", and the Arizona Republic described their show as "impressive support for the argument that Foo Fighters are America's best rock band."  The group recently expanded their career Grammy take to six, as the band won Best Rock Album and Best Hard Rock Performance this year.

Sue McLean and Associates present the Cowboy Junkies at the Fitzgerald Theater on Thursday, July 17th at 7:30 p.m. Based out of Toronto, Canada, the Cowboy Junkies have been playing for over 20 years. The Trinity Session is perhaps their best known album, recorded live on a single microphone at the Church of the Holy Trinity in downtown Toronto by producer Peter J. Moore.

After multiple recordings and countless tour dates, the Cowboy Junkies have recently released their 11th album, Trinity Revisited, which was recorded at the Trinity Church in one day. On the album, the band features special guests such as Ryan Adams, Vic Chesnutt, Natalie Merchant, and longtime cohort Jeff Bird.

Minnesota Public Radio, The Star Tribune, and The Loft Literary Center continue their "Talking Volumes" series at The Fitzgerald Theater on Tuesday, May 27th at 7:00 p.m. with a conversation with author Michael Ondaatje and host Kerri Miller. Ondaatje, who was born in Sri Lanka and now lives outside Toronto, has written four novels (including "The English Patient"), one memoir and several books of poems. His most recent novel, "Divisadero", begins in Northern California in the 1970s with a man and his two teenage daughters. An act of violence splinters the family, and from these shards Ondaatje spins more tales -- which send us spinning from the past to the present, and from the casinos of Nevada to the French countryside. Reviewers have called it "lyrical," "finely chiseled," "prismatic" and "mesmerizing." Musical guest for the show is Dreamland Faces, a five-piece ensemble with an otherworldly ability to channel the musical spirit of bygone days.

The American Hockey League Calder Cup Playoffs continue this week with the Eastern Conference Finals featuring the East Division Champion Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and the Atlantic Division Champion Portland Pirates.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins secured a spot in the Eastern Conference Finals last Friday night, by defeating the Philadelphia Phantoms by a score of 3-1 at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. With the win, the Penguins claimed the East Division playoff crown in five games over their intrastate rivals.

The Penguins will take on the Portland Pirates, who posted a 5-4 win in Providence on Friday night to upset the Bruins in the Atlantic Division Final, four games to two.

The series, which will follow a 2-3-2 format, will open in Wilkes-Barre with Games One and Two slated for Wednesday, May 14 and Thursday, May 15. The full Eastern Conference Finals schedule is listed below and to the right.

This will be the first time the Penguins have advanced to the third round of the Calder Cup Playoffs since the 2004 postseason, when the team defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack in seven games to advance to the Calder Cup Finals.

Lisa Williams is an internationally acclaimed, Medium and Clairvoyant who has an amazing ability to communicate with loved ones and friends whom have passed on to the "other side."  When Lisa was four years old, she told her parents about the spirits in her bedroom. Though she had her first experience with the dead when she was a child, it wasn't until her grandmother, a renowned psychic, died in 1996 that Lisa fully embraced her second sight. 

Born in England, Lisa was discovered by Merv Griffin and was given her own hit show, Lisa Williams: Life Among the Dead, on Lifetime Television.  Lisa has made appearances on numerous talk shows including Good Morning America, Oprah and The Jimmy Kimmel Show.  In April 2008 Lisa released her first book, Life Among the Dead, which gives a wonderfully intimate account of Lisa's life as a medium, healer, wife, mom, and TV star.

Nick Cave returns to NYC after opening for The White Stripes with Grinderman at Madison Square Garden last year. This October, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will take the stage at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden!

After goth pioneers the Birthday Party called it quits in 1983, singer/songwriter Nick Cave assembled the Bad Seeds, a post-punk supergroup. With the Bad Seeds, Cave further explored his fascination with religion, death, love, America and violence with a sometimes eclectic hybrid of blues, gospel, rock, and arty post-punk. Cave released his first album with the Bad Seeds, From Her to Eternity, in 1984, which strengthened Cave's reputation as an original interpreter and a vocal stylist of note.

Finding new ways to be the Bad Seeds is an ongoing mission for Nick Cave and in the last two years, this ongoing mission has sped up to an intoxicating pace. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds hit the elevator button straight back up to the cerebral penthouse suite with their fourteenth album, DIG, LAZARUS, DIG!!!
