Bob Weir and RatDog are coming to rock Ruth Eckerd Hall.

The legendary Bob Weir, along with his band RatDog, comes to Ruth Eckerd Hall on Tuesday, November 18 at 7:30 pm.  Weir has a secure place in rock history as the Grateful Dead’s co-vocalist.  Andrew Clarke of The Independent, one of England’s leading newspapers, has called him the genre’s “greatest, if most eccentric rhythm guitarist.”  What began as a side project has become Weir’s primary band since the death of Grateful Dead band-mate Jerry Garcia in August of 1995. RatDog performs primarily Grateful Dead tunes with a mixture of covers (including Bob Dylan and Chuck Berry) as well as some original material.  Their repertoire consists of more than 150 songs.

This unique tour showcases two of Christian music's most recognized and beloved artists.  Together, Chapman and Smith have garnered a staggering eight GRAMMY awards, 96 Dove Awards, 77 No. 1 singles and more than 30 Gold and Platinum albums.  The idea for the tour came together shortly after Chapman and Smith spent time together in the UK working on the "Compassionart project" that brought more than 10 of Christian music's most revered singers, songwriters and worship leaders together to write and record a collection of songs, for charity.  Both artists will perform music from their current and upcoming albums: Chapman's This Moment (10/23/07) and Smith's A New Hallelujah (10/28/08).

Pachyderm Procession Announces Arrival of The Greatest Show on Earth® to Manchester

Join Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® and Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta as crews escort a fleet of the world's most talented animal performers to the Verizon Wireless Arena for the kickoff of this year's performances in Manchester. This year's walk marks the first time Ringling Bros. arrives during daylight hours, creating a daytime spectacle for all to enjoy!

What: Procession of precocious pachyderms and other members of the world's most marvelous menagerie announces the arrival of The Greatest Show On Earth® to Manchester for a week of spectacle and excitement. Culminating the walk, will be a Bellobration Celebration featuring a warm welcome from Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta.

When: Wed., Oct. 1, 2008, 1:30 p.m.

Where: Animals and escorts will depart their train behind Firestone (300 Elm St.) and walk up to Elm St. They will take a left onto Elm St. and then proceed to the Verizon Wireless Arena.

Why:To officially welcome Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, which will be performing at the Verizon Wireless Arena from Oct. 2 – Oct. 5.
