KE$HA with LMFAO and Spank Rock I August 31
KE$HA is bringing her Get $leazy Tour to the MAC next week. Opening acts wil be LMFAO and Spank Rock.
KE$HA was born in 1987 in Los Angeles. She was raised by a single mom who was a former punk-rock singer/songwriter who penned "Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You" for country music star Joe Sun in the late '70s. In 1991, KE$HA moved with her mom back to Nashville where she attended a music school, learned from her mother how to write songs and fell in love with country music greats such as Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline. At age 17, KE$HA quit high school and moved back to Los Angeles to pursue music.
In 2005 at the age of 18, KE$HA was signed to a record label with the help of her mother's connections in Nashville. During this time, she ended up co-writing The Veronicas' single "This Love" alongside Toby Glad, appeared in the video for Katy Perry's single, "I Kissed a Girl" and sang background vocals for Britney Spears' "Lace and Leather." Her big break came in early 2009 after appearing on Flo Rida's No. 1 single "Right Round." Her debut single "Tik Tok," was released in late 2009 and reached No. 1 in 11 countries. Her debut album, Animal, was released in January 2010 and debuted at No. 1 in the United States, Canada and Greece. By September of that same year, she had sold two million albums worldwide and released three more top ten singles from the same album: "Your Love is my Drug," "Blah, Blah, Blah" and "Take it Off." Animal was re-released with a companion extended play, Cannibal and the lead single from that album "We R Who We R" became only the 17th song to debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 three weeks before the album's release. Also in 2010, KE$HA was awarded the 2010 MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Act and toured with Rihanna as supporting act for her Last Girl on Earth Tour. The song also gave KE$HA her fifth straight top ten hit in the United States. I am the Dance Commander + I Command You to Dance: The Remix Album is KE$HA'S first remix album and was released in March 2011.
KE$HA'S music is fun, unapologetic, rowdy, quirky, humorous and interesting, but with substance behind it. Her music incorporates elements of dance-pop, she uses a spoken word rapping style on many songs and her lyrics are straightforward and based on her life experiences and influenced by the storytelling style of country music.
